Wireless Access Management (WAM) is the Quantis solution for the centralised management of user access to wireless networks.

The platform introduces a layer that is independent from the Client’s Wi-Fi technology to manage users, authentication, policies and accounting. The solution uses a multi-vendor Captive Portal and an architecture based on the RADIUS protocol.

A simple experience for users

The Captive Portal is responsive and can be used from smartphones, tablets and desktops. The registration process can be configured according to the policies defined by the Client.

Users can be identified using a mobile number, an email address or both. When identity verification is required, the system generates a One-Time Password (OTP) that can be sent by SMS or email.

The portal can be customised with logo, colours, content and specific communications.

Centralised management

Administrators can:

  • create and manage users;
  • configure access policies;
  • define session duration;
  • act on active users;
  • manage blacklists and whitelists;
  • define authentication methods;
  • configure OTP routing policies;
  • consult authentication and accounting information;
  • produce reports on access and usage.

Multi-vendor

Using the RADIUS protocol makes it possible to separate identity and access management from the underlying Wi-Fi technology. The Client can therefore keep a uniform model for authentication and user management even across different infrastructures.

Cloud or On-Premises

Wireless Access Management can be delivered from the Cloud or installed directly within the Client’s infrastructure. The choice depends on architectural, organisational and security requirements.

International authentication

A guest network may be used by people coming from different countries. SMS authentication must therefore account for the international delivery of OTPs and the different rules applied by mobile operators.

To ensure a consistent management of the service identity, OTPs are sent with a dedicated Sender ID, TAP Guest (where TAP stands for Technology Access Platform, the platform through which guest access and authentication services are managed).
